Characterising the Influence of First-Year Wheat Cultivar on Pseudomonas Selection and Function in a Take-All Infected Field

چکیده

Wheat, the world’s most widely cultivated crop, is highly susceptible to Take-all disease caused by soil ascomycete fungus Gaeumannomyces tritici (Gt). Crop rotations using different wheat cultivars can influence build up (TAB) in following year’s crop. The exact mechanism for this unknown, but there may be a bacterial biocontrol component associated with TAB control. We cultured and characterised Pseudomonas isolates from rhizosphere endosphere of second-year field-grown wheat, plots which, previous season, had been used culture High-TAB cultivar Hereward or Low-TAB Cadenza. Analysis two loci, wsm fecB, showed that these genes were significantly differentially first-year wheat-planting regime: was more abundant within Hereward-derived isolates, while fecB prevalent Cadenza-derived isolates. These findings supported gyrB phylogenetic analysis an vitro Gt antagonism assay. data show grown first year plays especially important role selection spp. found second-season wheat-root environment, emphasising importance understanding agronomic practice improving plant health food security.

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

efl students gender and socioeconomic status: the use of politeness strategies in the first and second languages

within the components of communicative competence, a special emphasis is put on the “rules of politeness,” specifically the politeness strategies (brown and levinson, 1978) that speakers deploy when performing the request speech act. this is because the degree of imposition that making a request places upon one’s interlocutor(s) has been seen to be influenced by several factors among which, as ...

Distribution of a Take-All Suppressive Strain of Pseudomonas fluorescens on Seminal Roots of Winter Wheat.

An antibiotic-resistant strain of Pseudomonas fluorescens, that suppresses take-all of wheat, was used to study the distribution of the bacteria on seminal roots of wheat after being introduced onto seeds. Cells of P. fluorescens were isolated from the entire length of the root, and density of the introduced bacteria declined with the distance from the base of the root. Maximum populations of 1...
